"Australian in origin, the artist Michael Clough has now lived in the United Kingdom since falling in love with his wife-to-be during a year’s work experience in London after completing his secondary education.Visiting London during his year around the cultural centres of Europe, Michael Clough worked in a bar for four months, during which time he met and became engaged to the owner of the delicatessen shop next door. Both Michael Clough and his wife have a love of art, and both had been enthusiastic amateur painters.Since marrying, Michael Clough has painted professionally, working both on commissions for advertising agencies and book publishers, and for galleries in and around London.He has a particular love of colour and texture, but also a belief that a successful artist must always follow and be inspired by fashions in home furnishings, fabrics and paints. He therefore aims always to create work in keeping with its times and hopes in his old age to look back across a catalogue of paintings which truly reflect the changing age in which he lives."
